1774 Pavilion wins award at the Structural Steel Design Awards

Our 1774 pavillion at @friends_school_lisburn has won an award at the #bcsa 57th Structural Steel Design Awards!

We had a great wee jolly over to London for the awards ceremony at the top of the @leadenhall_building with visionary Principal Stephen Moore, Nigel of brilliant fabricator @fabrite8 and @niallograydee of excellent Eamson engineers. Special mention to Project Architect extraordinaire @katie.string.er for whom this is her third award of the year đź’«

The evening was hosted by the legend that is @piers_taylor_

Thanks to @joelavertyphotography for the photos that really showcase the Pavillion and to the judges who we all enjoyed enjoyed meeting with and showing around back in the Spring : Bill@Taylor, Brogan MacDonald and David Chapman.

The Judges’ comment: “Imaginatively conceived, with full involvement of the school and its leadership, and thoughtfully delivered, this deceptively simple canopy exemplifies the remarkable potential of weathering steel no matter the scale. The clearly legible folded plate structure creates an elegant form which maximises the pedagogical value of the project and provides a new focal point on the campus.”
