New House, Belfast

This black-clad beauty will allow our clients to downsize from their large family home into a new house in their generous garden in Ballyhackamore, and thereby stay in the area they love and maximise the value of their property.  The brief was for a garden-embracing, compact yet spacious house that, aesthetically, was like an art gallery.  A stripped-back palette of materials is employed: blackened timber with black, aluminium-framed windows externally, and concrete, birch ply and white walls internally, with lots of natural light flooding in.  There is a living block, a bedroom blocked and a glazed entrance link, all screened behind a blank entrance facade.
Status: Planning granted, 2018; starting on-site mid-2019.
