Conservation

We love working with listed and traditional buildings.  We appreciate their character, their quirks and their many hidden layers and stories.  We believe that they are to be treated with the utmost respect and care.  Our Director, Aisling, holds the RSUA Conversation certificate.  We touch old buildings as lightly as possible, in ways that could be rectified or put back at a later stage.  We celebrate period features.  Where extensions are required, we favour sensitive, contemporary additions, that are distinctly of this time, over any kind of pastiche.  We believe expansive glazing, naturally weathered timber and good quality hand-made brick can beautifully complement traditional brick, stone, slate and thatch.

Donaghadee Renovation

While old houses are rich in character and history, they often lack large, bright open spaces and indoor-outdoor connection we have come to enjoy in today’s homes.  These can be created in brand new additions, discretely attached to maintain a respectful distance from the original building.

Loughloughan Barn conversion

Working with a range of budgets, we work creatively within the constraints to create spaces which work efficiently and beautifully to meet the needs of our clients.

Heritage buildings present us with the opportunity to utilise our range of presentation skills to investigate and develop our design alongside the existing fabric, and to give our clients the opportunity to visualise our proposals. Utilising 3D modelling software, we can efficiently present a range of external and internal imagery to scale, and walk-through models for our clients.

We have been fortunate to work on a number of stone and brick traditional buildings including barn and coach-house conversions, farmhouses, Victorian villas and Georgian terraces.
