ResidentialThe Concept
Renovations and single-storey extension to a substantial period house in King’s Road Conservation area, for a growing family. The extension replaces a cluster of ad-hoc outbuildings and yard, referenced in the internal brickwork and arched opening to the mud room; all now unified with a thick band of black standing seam metal that nods to the Tudor detailing of the original house.
Exaggerated stepped brickwork reveals pay homage to the ornamental brick detailing on the original house, while a high internal brick boundary wall brings warmth, texture and drama to the new kitchen space.
The old part of the house is beautifully proportioned, with an abundance of rooms across three floors, all accessed off a winding central staircase.
